HATS: MARIE MERCIE'

Marie Mercié was born in the forest of Fontainebleau and her roots marks her art to create hats.  She conceives his creations as a detachment of reality, something real and unreal at the same time, dominated by nature. Her style is playful, contemporary and chic. Flavor of a Parisian allure.

She opened her first shop in Paris in 1987, becoming soon an emblematic figure of fashion with the international press latching onto her most outlandish hats.

" LIBE' " TOUT EN GAULTIER!

The enfant terrible of fashion entirely designed the latest issue of French newspaper Libération. The designers gave free rain to his genius in creating garments made with the paper of the same magazine, wearing journalists, bloggers and creatives, and included himself ...!!! j'adore!

MADAME GRèS, LA COUTURE à L'OEUVRE. PARIS MUSéE BOURDELLE

It was the 30's and Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiapparelli were already rivals. But a third lady of fashion began to be talked about: Germane Emile Crebs, better knows as Madame Grès.
She wanted to be a sculptor and she showed it working on the fabric as if it were stone.
Statues of pure couture. The uniqueness of her art is exhibited at De Bourdelle Museum in Paris, in a show on stage until July 24th.
Not to be missed!!!!

JIL SANDER@MILANO FASHION WEEK FW11-12

Jil Sander meets the expectation. Brilliant colours, egg shapes, floral print and stunning shoes. It's a strong woman with a strong femininity. An appealing show for an "under tone" Milan fashion week.

A LITTLE TRIBUTE TO DIANA VREELAND

Undoubtely Diana Vreeland is one of the most legendary figures of the fashion world. Born in Paris in 1903, she moved to the USA with her family after the First World War and in New York she started his journalistic career as author of  "Why don't you" section on Harper's Bazaar and in the 1962 she was at American Vogue direction until 1971.
Subversive, brilliant, avant-garde..Diana is an icon and still contemporary and innovative also after her death. More than 15 minutes of celebrity. She was (is) an eloquent proof of the controversial claim that style is innate and blind as love. She wasn't beautiful, but full of elegance.

STILL IN LOVE FOR JOHN GALLIANO

Paris menswear fashion week Fw11-12. No way, he's definitely different from all the others. Every time, every show, John Galliano still innovative and interesting. Same allure, his own allure. Indisputable styling, amazing pieces!
This menswear show is dedicate to the Russian ballet and it was opened with a harried horde of Russian emigrés in great big coats, tufty shearling, and military jackets; it was closed with a glittered and embroidered eveningwear. Below my favourites looks.
BRAVO JOHN!

ADELE MILDRED

Definitely a character, a potential icon. She looks like a young Elizabeth Taylor. Adele Mildred is head of atelier for Stephen Jones. Friend of Dita Von Teese who introduced her to Stephen Jones,  today Adele presides over a workroom of twenty-five milliners whom she lovingly describes as “a bunch of old ladies sitting around a table gossiping and making hats!” all busily executing his mad vision not just for his own label, but the host of fashion visionaries who rely on Jones each season (John Galliano, Gareth Pugh, Marc Jacobs...).
She grew up in a small suburb of Minneapolis, but she spent much time in France (because of her  mum). Her french background made her feel special and she spent a lot of time alone with her imagination, developing her unique visual sense. She studied fashion in New York, she use to design clothing and create costumes for indipendent films..but her real obsession was for the hats.
"Like art, millinery is a process and you cannot churn the product out".

PAULINE BORCA'S FANTASTIC TRIP FOR SS011

Kinitted dresses with images of mountains landscapes, space inspired printed dresses and multicoloured jumpsuits... here the Pauline Borca's artuful work on SS011 menswear and womenswear collection.
She's a young french visual artist and designer recently graduated from the Higher Institute of Applied Arts in Paris (LISAA).
In her work art and fashion are all in one, the photos taken by Matthieu Delbreuve perfectly represents this line full of fantasy and imagination.
I really like the hats and the animal head-shaped knitted masks!! Gorgeous!!!

ELLIOT WARD-FEAR

Here a new 21 years old talent from Sydney. The boy who "didn't ever had the intention of getting into fashion" but "I use to wear a lot of dresses since i was child..."is now, day by day, featured in many important magazines. With his cheeky cut outs, sixties bunny inspired lilac faux fur and school girl pleating, Ward-Fear's present his FW011 collection. His concept idea is the movement from life to death... "i'm obsessed with this idea of trascending!"
